Do you believe change is possible?
"The measure of intelligence is the ability to change" - Albert Einstein
We all want change and movement in our lives, or so we say.
But when we face ourselves, our issues, our underlying limiting beliefs, we have a tendency to give up. I know I have.
So what prevent us?
Fear mostly. Of an unknown outcome.
Will we get the desired result?
Will we fail?
Will everything be worse?
Around and around we go in this loop. Often procrastination starts, then overwhelm kicks in and we just don't bother.
We look too far ahead, we don't take the one step forward.
We are in darkness. We don't know the outcome. Fear begins to present and we run.
The quote I return to again and again in moments such as these is this one from Mary Magdalene revealed by Meggan Watterson.
"If I could start again, it would be in the darkness. And in the darkness, all we would see is a hand suddenly extending out toward us. And the invitation would be terrifying. Seeing this hand would compel out heart to start beating rapidly, audibly. The fear comes from feeling out of control. We want to leave and we want to stay in equal measure. We want to know what will happen next and for everything to remain exactly the same. Taking this hand is a choice to surrender. Surrendering it all. All the fear. The hurt. The anger. And the ego that created it"
Change is absolutely possible, and it can be easy or hard.
Faith and fear both demand you to believe in something you cannot see. Often it takes a gentle nudge and sometimes a huge big kick up the backside before we will move.
Which way will you go?
When we learn to go with the fear, when we can actually feel it, the darkness, the unknown, the fear in our bodies, we begin to change the internal stories.
Often we need help and support to guide us through the next steps. Especially if we have a history that has kept us feeling unsafe in our bodies.
We need to take slow steady steps, to learn to trust our own judgement, to start to understand the feeling of safety so we can be bolder and braver and not stick to the well trodden path of others.
Do you fear change?
If so why?
Where does the feeling sit in your body?
Is your history holding you back?
If we are holding onto so much old stuff, there can never be space for the new.
Are you ready to create a new story?
